The Orlando Singers Dorset...

..is a chamber choir of approximately 25 singers performing a wide variety of sacred and secular choral works across Dorset and beyond. It has become widely known as one of the South West's most engaging chamber choirs.

The choir is equally at home singing works by the mystic Hildegard of Bingen as it is with contemporary music, several pieces having been written especially for them. The Orlando Singers has a high percentage of soloists within each section, sufficient for various genres of music.

Since its formation in 1993, the choir has given over 150 concerts, been in residence at twenty different cathedrals including Westminster Abbey, Winchester Cathedral and St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, to name but a few. It has broadcast on Radio 2, made three CDs and toured across Europe and into Africa. The Orlando Singers Dorset rehearses mainly in Charlton Marshall or Pimperne Village Hall.

The choir espouses the values of friendliness, commitment and self-belief. Membership of The Orlando Singers is characterised by an open, inclusive and mutually supportive attitude to all fellow members, and requires a "best in class" approach to the standard of performance.

We are delighted to announce the recent appointment of our new director of music, the multi talented Sam B. Hanson. If you would like to read more about Sam, please click on the Director of Music tab.
